I’ve decided to put this site back on-line using a theme I downloaded this morning. I was going to import all the posts from the old installation when the thing was hosted at Dreamhost but I’ve gone against that plan now. So it’s one of those fresh starts that I seem so good at.
I don’t really like using other people’s themes so much since it feels like you’re wearing their clothes or something and I much prefer to roll my own. However, the theme that’s running right now is called Manifest and I think it’s really cool. It’s simple layout is excellent and it’ll suit me fine while I crack on with my own theme. I’m not a fast worker though so it may be here a while.
I’m trying to develop a child theme using the Thematic WordPress Theme Framework. It’s a way of taking an already defined theme and then adding your own style to make it your own. I’m still getting my head round it and I’m experimenting on my development site. Hopefully in the next few months or so I’ll swap over to something designed by me. It might not actually be as good as say this theme but it’ll be mine. If I’m still running this or someone elses theme in six month’s time someone poke me with a pointed stick.
On several occasions over the past few weeks I’ve had the urge to blog about something but since this site has been on hiatus I’ve had nowhere to prattle on. Well now I do again so get ready.
