Notes

The ticket purchasing procedure at Oldham RLFC is an absolute shit-show. In order to buy a ticket for Friday’s game against Widnes at Bower Fold, you first must go through the crazy act of selecting and buying a seat ticket at Boundary Park, a completely different stadium.

The tickets are listed in a random order with the one most likely to sell the most — Adult — right down at the end of a list of ticket variations.

If you want to buy an accessible seating ticket with an accompanying carer, you have to buy your initial ticket and then email in to the club to get the carer ticket.

I used to run the tickets at Oldham via software that I self-hosted. It was light years ahead of this load of shite.

I did a preview of tomorrow’s Salford v Oldham game. It’s written from the perspective of someone who used to manage the Oldham club’s website and social media but gave it up due to nepotism. And it really bugs me.

I’ll do the same for the rest of the season as well as a fan’s perspective of Leeds Rhinos games, since that’s where I get my RL fix these days.

For future me looking back in my timeline. I am suffering with the dreaded lurgy. Some kind of heavy cold shit. I look like a vampire and to make matters worse I think I have some foreign body floating around in my right eye.

Joy.

I just took a walk to the local Aldi to get some stuff for Fraser’s school lunch tomorrow. It’s a mile walk, mainly uphill.

Lisa joked that maybe we could walk there together on Saturday mornings and we could each have one of those tartan trolley things that old people use.

And then during my walk, this guy walked past me. Prob in his 30s. Lol

It’s a thing where you write something 18 months ago and then today I have no idea what I was thinking.

My blog is like my nagging little secret that I know I should be updating, but I don’t. Maybe I should.

I’ve watched several Rugby League games on TV this year but today I’m attending my first live match of the season. Leeds Rhinos v Wakefield Trinity at Headingley. Rather looking forward to it despite the mucky weather.

I own the .co.uk version of my website domain but I don’t really do anything with it. It’s currently got a ghost install sat behind it and I have emails going to Tuta.

No point persevering with it I suppose. Hmmmm.

I resumed my walking habit today. I walked 2,022 miles in 2022 in an attempt to get trimmer/fitter — it worked.

Life and an injury got in the way since then, so I’ve decided to go again this year. There are 350 days left in 2025. In that time, I’m going to walk 1,500 miles. It’s about four and a half miles a day.

By no coincidence, Kefalonia is about 1,500 miles away from our house, don’t you know.
