I designed and managed the previous iteration of the Oldham website. Mine was better. Well, I would say that wouldn’t I!
Anyway, working out what these images are all about is just a bit of fun.
The sidebar on news articles on the current Oldham RLFC website displays image widgets that advertise hospitality and membership opportunities at the club.

Ummmm, OK?
Who’s that guy, and where is he? #
Let’s take the first image of people seated at a table. The advert is for private box hospitality at an Oldham game, so purportedly the photo is a bunch of people doing just that, including the guy in the foreground.
You can easily separate the image from the text, so here it is:
The people in the picture don’t look like rugby league fans and the guy in the foreground is wearing a motorcycle jacket made by Alpinestars. Not that the jacket is relevant but I asked Claude to identify the logo and I got a result very quickly.
I Googled the image and found that it’s been used in a few places.
- An article about a link between certain foods and dementia on a Russian website
- On a web page exploring the world of chocolate: from bean to bar
- A Medium post about Grampa Ernie
- A blog post about some guy hearing people talk about Trump
- Whatever this is about the Citibanamex Platinum Credit Card
So yeah, it’s a stock image. It’s a photo taken in St Malo, France by Matt Seymour on Unsplash back in 2019.

The search suggests the restaurant could be Le Lion D’Or (The Golden Lion), 1 Place Chateaubriand, St Malo.

I’m thinking that after 18 months since the new site launched, it might be time to replace those stock images with people actually doing the things being promoted.
